I’ve been meaning to write this list for a while. There are all these random things that bother me and I’ve been wanting to put all these items in one place. So here’s the list, in no particular order.

  1. Men who think it’s acceptable to ask a woman out by text messaging. I know this is acceptable for certain age groups — by this I mean under 25 — but I feel that guys should make a little more effort. I gave my number to a guy I met online and he keeps texting me to ask if I want to meet for a drink. First, he texted on Friday, to see if I want to meet up Friday evening. It’s a FRIDAY NIGHT!!! Even if I didn’t have plans, I would NOT go out with you on a Friday night. Then, he texted me Saturday night, to see if I want to meet up for drinks. Seriously? Do you really think if you text me at 6pm on a Saturday evening, there’s a chance you might see me? And today, he texted me for drinks on Tuesday night. Needless to say he doesn’t stand a chance. He obviously doesn’t know about the guy before him that ruined it for other guys to have a date on a Tuesday night. So I finally texted him back and said, “I’d love to meet up for drinks sometime but I really need some advance notice and a phone call to make a date.” Seriously… how lazy can you get? You already have the number, how about you use it to call.
  2. Ugg boots. I live in LA and I see a lot of girls wearing uggs in the summer time. I know they’re comfy, but there are plenty of other comfortable shoes to choose from. There’s no reason to wear Uggs when it’s 70+ degrees out here on a “cold” day. (more…)

Despite a rocky start, the quality of the online dates is improving. Bachelor #1 was a no-show, Bachelor #2 was interesting if not awkward, and Bachelor #3 was actually the closest I’ve come to having a good date from Nerve.com. He showed up on time, looked like his picture, could keep up a conversation AND… this is the best part of it all… he supports Hillary!!! This alone makes me overlook the fact that he doesn’t drink alcohol (not for AA reasons) or eat red meat. He did say he made an exception for lamb once, so that gave him some extra points in my book. (more…)

So another guy from Nerve.com asked me out. This one was smart enough to ask me out to sushi. Which is the fastest way I’ll say “yes” to a date. This one was an improvement over Tuesday night’s date. For starters, he showed up. Major points. Now, here are my notes from the date.

  • His profile picture looked 10 years younger. I should have suspected something when his pictures only showed his face. Everything else was cropped out. (more…)

One of my favorite things in the world is my Tuesday night spinning class. This ranks on top of my favorite things right next to sushi, chocolate and expensive jeans. I rarely EVER miss my Tuesday night spinning class because A) I love spinning B) I love Adam’s spinning class and C) I need to relieve my stress on the bike especially when I’m experiencing a dry spell. The only times I miss this particular class is if I get out of work too late, when I’m sick, or have a birthday celebration to attend. (more…)

So a few weeks ago I joined Nerve.com and I have to say that so far I’m impressed with the selection. I’ve been exchanging emails with some interesting guys and one of my Nerve boys asked for my email address. We were having technical difficulties with Nerve so I gave him one of my email addresses. The one that doesn’t show my actual name so he can’t google me and get too much info about me. So we exchanged some emails, discussed some politics, and this led to my first online rejection. The best part of this rejection? It had nothing to do with looks, but it was over political candidates. And I wasn’t rejected by a conservative, but by another liberal. So I figured I’d share. (To protect his identity, I deleted his email address and his last name.) (more…)

A few months ago I decided to expand my selection of men*, so I signed up for online dating. So far, chemistry.com has generated zero chemistry. And lately, they’ve been sending me random matches that I’ve already met in real life and I know for a fact that I don’t have chemistry with these people. I live in LA, how hard can it be for them to send me matches that I don’t already know in real life (within 5 mile radius of 90068, who’s not a vegetarian, a Republican, or a proud parent). Is that too much to ask for? (more…)
