Subject: McCain Democrats, Continuing the Fight

Dear Eliza,

Many of you were strong Hillary Clinton supporters. In light of the recent events we realize that many of you are unsure how to best use your vote.

As democrats we find ourselves in a similar situation of doubt as to how best continue the fight this November election. In response, we have a created a site specifically for voters like you: democrats who wish to continue the fight we have worked so long and hard to support. (more…)

An unqualified, inexperienced, gun-toting, American-flag bikini-wearing pretty face. And don’t get me started on the Hillary comparisons. Really? You’re going to compare an inexperienced, hillbilly, to an accomplished, experienced, intelligent woman? What exactly are we comparing here? That both women have vagina? That’s about the only thing that these candidates have in common. And as far as Palin’s comment about shattering the glass ceiling… I’ve got news for you lady. A woman in the VP spot does NOT shatter the glass ceiling. If she did, then Geraldine Ferraro shattered that ceiling 20 years ago on the Democratic ticket. A woman on the VP spot is just not good enough. An inexperienced woman on the VP spot is even worst. That is NOT shattering the glass ceiling. That’s setting the feminist movement back another 100 years. (more…)

Dear Hillary,

Thank you. You have once again inspired me. You will always have my support, financially and emotionally. I always thought you were the better choice and tonight you proved it once again. I’m glad that the rest of the country FINALLY got to see the class act that you are. They finally got to see the real you. Not the version of you that was demonized by the media. Not a sound byte out of context. But the real you. Strong, intelligent, capable, experienced and presidential you. The rest of the nation finally got to see the woman that so many of us have believed in and continue to believe in.

I will cast my vote for Barack Obama in November, in honor of you. And because as a true democrat I would have never voted for McCain and all that he stands for. I still believe that you belong in the White House. I know that one day you will get to the White House. I can’t wait for that day.

Love,

Eliza

Now that Obama has picked his running mate, my five stage grieving process has reached its conclusion. Acceptance. My optimistic side held on to hope, despite the discouraging reality. In the end, I’m not disappointed that his running mate is Biden. I’m disappointed that it’s not Hillary Clinton running for President. The person more likely to beat McCain. Who knows, maybe I’ll be proven wrong. Maybe Obama will beat McCain. I just think that sometimes hope and reality don’t coexist. In my case, my hope for seeing Hillary Clinton in the White House could not co-exist with the reality of overt sexism and misogyny . As for Obama, the sugarcoated message of hope just doesn’t seem enough to overcome his lack of experience and the Bradley factor. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong. Maybe we will get a democrat in the White House.  I just think that’s a stronger reality in 2012.  Hillary… I’ll see you in the White House in 2012.

Looks like she’s going to concede, end her run and endorse Senator Obama. I’m sad. Really sad. As a good democrat, I will vote for Obama. This whole process has made me very disheartened. And I know that the process has been very different for Obama supporters. He ran a good campaign, but he also received a very different treatment from the media. I hate how the media treated Hillary Clinton. The vicious name calling — monster, she-devil and bitch among many — left me sick in my stomach. (more…)

The California Supreme Court overturned the ban on gay marriage today. This decision makes me very proud to live in California. I think any two people who want to get married should be able to get married. For those arguing that gay marriage destroys the sanctity of marriage, well, I don’t think that sanctity exists  considering that almost 50% of marriages end in divorce. And when you take into account that luminaries such as Britney and K-Fed, Pamela and Tommy Lee / Kid Rock / Rick Solomon can get married — or when you watch every other episode of the Jerry Springer show — it’s proof positive that there is NO sanctity left in marriage. So unless the conservatives have a better argument than sanctity, this particular argument holds no value. (more…)

That’s right. Hillary Clinton would be leading by as much as 600*** delegates…

I was trying to figure out who would lead the race if the the democrats had a winner-take-all primary system similar to the Republicans or to how the Electoral College decides elections. So I put together a little chart, with the numbers. If Obama won the state, I gave him all the delegates for the state. If Clinton won the state primary, I gave her all the delegates for the state. I did not count the super-delegates. (more…)

So a few weeks ago I joined Nerve.com and I have to say that so far I’m impressed with the selection. I’ve been exchanging emails with some interesting guys and one of my Nerve boys asked for my email address. We were having technical difficulties with Nerve so I gave him one of my email addresses. The one that doesn’t show my actual name so he can’t google me and get too much info about me. So we exchanged some emails, discussed some politics, and this led to my first online rejection. The best part of this rejection? It had nothing to do with looks, but it was over political candidates. And I wasn’t rejected by a conservative, but by another liberal. So I figured I’d share. (To protect his identity, I deleted his email address and his last name.) (more…)

Today, Bill Richardson joined the parade of mostly white, male politicians endorsing Barack Obama. I find it interesting that the guy who benefited so much from the Clinton administration, decided to endorse Barack Obama, instead of Hillary Clinton. Why? Because the boys club of Washington does NOT want a woman in the White House. They think it’s good enough that we have Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House, 3rd in line from the Presidency. The good news is that we’re only a heart attack and an assassination* away from having a woman president. The bad news is that this scenario is highly unlikely. (more…)

The word monster has been used a lot recently to describe Hillary Clinton and every time I hear this word my stomach turns. I detest the likes of Samantha Power. Samantha Power set the women’s movement back by hundred years by calling Hillary Clinton a monster. In fact, there’s a generation of women who are reaping the benefits of the feminist movement but have no problem castigating women like Hillary Clinton.
